Ally Rolls Over – Part 2

// November 19th, 2005 // No Comments » // Milestones

I was right in guessing that Ally’s next big accomplishment would be putting her feet in her mouth, which she has been doing rather successfully for the past few days now.

But today marked the achievement of yet another milestone for our little girl – she rolled over from her back to her tummy for the first time! She did it once while in her crib playing and then two more times while laying on her play gym mat.

She has been squirming all over the place for a while now, getting better and better every day at rolling from her back to her side, so I knew it wouldn’t be long before she managed to roll the whole way over.

It was so exciting – that’s one of the things I love about being a Mom – the joy I feel with each of her accomplishments. We take for granted all the movements we make each day, which seem so simple to us, but are so significant in a baby’s world.

You always hear parents saying enjoy this time, it goes so fast. I always thought I understood, but until you are watching your own child grow, it’s hard to understand how truly fast time does go and how right they are. So before I turn in this evening, I am going to kiss my daughter, breathe her in deep and stare at her with pure joy and amazement – taking in every detail, so that years from now I can recall with clarity the memory of the day my daughter first rolled over.

Four Month Check-Up

// November 11th, 2005 // No Comments » // General

Ally had her four month check-up today. She weighs 13 lbs. 14 oz. and is 24 1/4 inches long, so she’s 1 lb. shy of doubling her birth weight and has grown 4 inches since birth.

She got four shots – two in each of her little thighs. She cried quite a bit when they were giving her the shots, but she stopped about a minute after getting the last one. TheĀ band-aids they put on her are so tiny.

She did well for most of the day after falling asleep on the way home, but got more fussy as the day passed. We finally gave her some Tylenol, even though she didn’t have a fever, the nurse recommended it as the shots can be painful.

This round seemed worse on her than the last, but she is finally asleep, and now that I’ve updated this, I am off to join my munchkin in dream land…

Finding Her Feet

// November 6th, 2005 // No Comments » // General, Milestones

This morning at 5 a.m., Ally found her feet!

Today marks the first time she managed to grab her toes and feet with her hands. And to think that just a few short weeks ago, she was working to grab hold of something placed in front. Now, she can grab toys put in front of her and put them in her mouth.

I guess that will be next, putting her feet in her mouth.

Ally’s Turns Four Months Old

// November 5th, 2005 // No Comments » // General

Our little munchkin is four months old today!

Four months is such a short amount of time, yet it feels like Ally has been here so much longer than that and it’s hard to remember what our lives were like before her big arrival.

Eric and I love to watch her as she takes in the world around her with so much awe and wonder, and now that she smiles and giggles, spend most of our time doing the stupidest things imaginable – anything to make her smile and laugh.

To celebrate her big four month birthday, Mommy took Ally out and bought her some new outfits, and Matt and Beth have come to visit.
