Ian is 21 Months Old

// June 2nd, 2009 // No Comments » // General

Another month has flown by, and Ian is now 21 months old. The boy is truly a bundle of energy – hanging from stuff, running around, bouncing off things, whirling in circles – he just never seems to stop moving.

He’s had some out of character cranky days lately, as he’s still cutting teeth and his allergies are not improving. His little eyes are always red and puffy, his eczema never completely lessens as every trip outside after the lawn has been mowed seems to make it flare up again.

Ian got his first haircut a few weeks ago, which was rather uneventful. He didn’t want to sit down, but managed to stay still long enough to get a nice trim and lessen the comb-over look. I’m really starting to enjoy boy hair as I’ve realized there are many fun ways to style it – his teacher has even taken to giving him a faux hawk and he looks simply adorable!

Other than that, it’s been a quiet month, and we are content to spend our weekends letting the kids ride their bikes on our street or splashing in the puddles we make on the front porch when watering the flowers.

In the world of Ally, she went to her first movie, Up!, with Eric this past weekend, which she enjoyed, but got antsy half way through. She’s doing well with her letters and writing her name (Alexandra and not Ally – too easy!). As she’s completed her school’s three-year-old curriculum, she’ll be moving up to the four-year class a little ahead of her birthday. I’m not one to label their child as gifted – I think we’re just lucky that Ally has a thirst for knowledge, that she is insightful, loves to learn and apply new concepts, and it shows. Now we just have to get her to work on controlling her temper!

Next up for the Emmons’ are birthday parties for some of our neighborhood friends, some household projects, as well as a birthday party for Ally at one of those new indoor inflatable party centers. I’m not sure who’ll have more fun with that one – the adults or the kids!!
